A Priceless Treasure

The full vision of the film project is to have 2 major works: first, the documentary on Garchen Rinpoche’s life story and second, a set of dvds containing Garchen Rinpoche teaching on a vast range of subjects around the world.

This project will take 3 1/2 years, and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010. At the request of Garchen Rinpoche the film project will be in 3 languages – English, Tibetan and Chinese.

Ultimately, For The BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS and the archival teaching dvds is more than a film project. It is an opportunity to come face to face with one of the most radiant teachers of our time, and experience his wisdom and blessings. Preserving this legacy of loving-kindness for humanity is a significant way to benefit the world. After the costs of the film project have been paid, ALL the profits from the sales of the dvds will be given to Garchen Rinpoche to use for his many altruistic programs.

The Project So Far

For the past 3 years Garchen Rinpoche’s extraordinary life and teachings have been documented on film in 14 countries: U.S.A., Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, India, Chile, Germany, Sweden, Israel, Hong Kong, Tibet and China. The filming is now complete and we are starting the long process of editing. Included is an unprecedented interview, with Garchen Rinpoche speaking candidly about his life. Also captured is a rare interview with Venerable Drubwang Rinpoche, a great yogi who passed away in December 2007. In the interview he says “Garchen Rinpoche is a Buddha.”

His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche and other lamas from the Drikung Kagyu tradition speak openly about his qualities. Interviews with students, personal attendants, and members of Rinpoche's family convey the depth of his blessings in their lives. Rare footage and old photographs from Rinpoche's past will also be used to bring alive the rich history of this life. This film will be an unusually intimate portrait of one of the most extraordinary beings in our midst.

The filming of the archival teaching dvds is complete. 100 hours of teachings on these subjects has been amassed: 37 Bodhisattva Practices, Dzogchen, Mahamudra, Dream Yoga, Milarepa, Chod, Bardos, Karma, Bodhicitta, 6 Perfections, Death and Dying, Kuntanzangpo, Guru Yoga, Phowa, Smoke Offering, Fire Puja teachings and MORE.

These archival dvds will be an invaluable way to continually receive Garchen Rinpoche’s wisdom, compassion and blessings indefinitely. The documentary will be completed first and then the editing for the archival dvds will begin. Due to the kindness of everyone this project has progressed but we need your help to finish.
