About This Film Project
The full vision of the film project is to have 2 major works. First a documentary and second, a set of dvds containing Garchen Rinpoche teaching on a vast range of subjects around the world.
This project will take 3 years, and is scheduled for completion in 2009. At the request of Garchen Rinpoche the film project will be in 3 languages – English, Tibetan and Chinese.
Ultimately, FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS and the archival teaching dvds is more than a film project. It is an opportunity to come face to face with one of the most radiant teachers of our time, and experience his wisdom and blessings. Preserving this legacy of loving kindness for humanity is a significant way to benefit the world.
FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS has documented Rinpoche's vast activities and teachings around the world in the US, Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Nepal, and Germany. Filming will continue in Chile, Tibet, Sweden and Israel.
An unprecedented interview has already been completed, with Garchen Rinpoche speaking candidly about his life. Also on film is a rare interview with Venerable Drubwang Rinpoche, the great yogi who passed away in December 2007. In the interview he says “Garchen Rinpoche is a Buddha.”
His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche and other lamas from the Drikung Kagyu tradition will speak openly about his qualities. Intervews with students, personal attendants, and members of Rinpoche's family will convey the depth of his blessings in their lives. Rare footage and old photographs from Rinpoche's past will also be used to bring alive the rich history of this life.
Garchen Rinpoche is giving rare access to his life for this film.
The estimated cost for the entire project which includes a feature length documentary and archival teaching dvds is $350,000. For the sake of comparison, the film Yogis of Tibet cost $500,000 to make just in the English language. FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS includes both a feature film and archived teachings, is being made in English, Tibetan, and Chinese languages, requires much more travel, and will take 3 years to complete.

The importance of properly archiving the sublime dharma teachings cannot be overstated as it is so rare to have a master such as Garchen Rinpoche in our midst, passing on the profound teachings from this ancient lineage.
Currently no such organized archive of Rinpoche's teachings exists on professional video, so this project will fulfill a great need. Please help us actualize the full vision of this film project!
